Glasgow to Honour the Fallen with Annual Parade and Cathedral Service
Veterans and military personnel will help city leaders mark Remembrance Sunday this year, with events centred around Glasgow Cathedral as George Square and the Cenotaph remains under development.
This year’s commemorations will take place on Sunday 9 November 2025, with the city’s annual service taking place in Glasgow Cathedral with a short Parade preceding the Service starting at 10.15am leaving from Collins Street.
The service, led by Rev. Mark Johnstone, will start at 10.45am, featuring traditional readings, hymns, and a two-minute silence at 11.00am.
Wreaths will then be laid at the Cathedral’s chancel.
The annual Garden of Remembrance, also, usually located in George Square, was officially opened at Kelvingrove Park on 21 October and will remain in place until 12 November, offering a tranquil space for reflection and tribute.
The Lord Provost of Glasgow Jacqueline McLaren said:
“Remembrance Sunday is a moment for our city to come together in gratitude and reflection. We honour the courage and sacrifice of those who served, and we remember the cost of peace. I encourage everyone to join us at Glasgow Cathedral on 9 November to pay their respects and give thanks.”
The public is warmly invited to attend the Cathedral service and visit the Garden of Remembrance throughout the Remembrance period.
