Glasgow Bach Cantatas Project

Glasgow Bach Cantata Project aims to bring the glory of J.S. Bach’s 200+ cantatas to Glasgow under the musical direction of Frikki Walker and Michael Bawtree. Our 12th concert is our first in the mighty Glasgow Cathedral, featuring visiting singers from Eystanljóð choir (Faroe Islands). The conductor is Michael Bawtree, and the opening organ concerto within BWV 146 will be played by cathedral Director of Music, Andrew Forbes. There will be a retiring collection in aid of Glasgow City Mission.

As we remember Justine’s remarkable talent and unwavering passion for the arts, we invite you to join us in commemorating her life through an evening of music.
Throughout the concert, talented friends and colleagues will pay homage to Justine’s enduring influence on the classical music community, performing some of her favourite pieces alongside works which she recorded and performed regularly.
As we come together to celebrate Justine’s life, we also aim to make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer by gathering donations for the Beatson Cancer Unit in Glasgow.

Kali Malone | Glasgow International

Developed by Glasgow-based curatorial project Cento, this site-specific performance by composer and sound artist Kali Malone takes place in Glasgow’s 12th century cathedral. Kali will play selected compositions from her acclaimed albums All Life Long, 2024 and The Sacrificial Code, 2019, adapted for the cathedral’s organ, built by Henry Willis in 1879. The performance includes additional accompaniment by musician Stephen O’Malley on several four-handed organ pieces.
Kali composes with clarity and focus, utilising evolving harmonic cycles to draw out latent emotional resonances, generating spaces for contemplation. Her experimental reinterpretations of centuries-old polyphonic compositional methods and historical tuning systems become portals to new ways of perceiving sound and time. Kali’s work animates the body of the church and creates a moment of reflection on the city’s sonic, architectural, and social history.

Anna is an organist, broadcaster and Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge. A terrific protagonist for her instrument, she is a natural communicator and reaches a huge audience through her concerts and via social media with over 1 million followers across all platforms.
